Got To Love Harlie!

You've got to love Harlie Ferguson! He convinced his team, team Florida, the coaches, State Wars, and the referees to do the Harlem Shake before the 2001 Division A Championship Game.

Video & Picture Questions

After the Nebraska 2000 and 2001 teams had a team meeting last night the following questions were raised. I spoke with Greg Thompson and I got the following answers. I will keep everyone up to date on this site with new information as it is released.

Q: Will there be streaming video of the games so family and friends may watch who cannot attend?
A: There will not be streaming video of games over the internet. State Wars recommends that those individuals not at the rink watch (non-video) game updates through Pointstreak (please use the links on nestatewars.blogspot.com under the "State Wars 9 Links" section to find the team and then the game you are interested in following).

Q: Will there be videos available for sale again this year? What will the video packages have (preliminary games, playoff games, skills competition, award/medal ceremonies)? What is the cost?
A: State Wars will have a company selling videos, but they are unsure of the package breakdown and cost. As soon as State Wars gets the information from the company they will forward it on to all of us.

Q: Will there be picture packages available for sale again this year? What is the breakdown of what is included in the picture package? What is the cost?
A: State Wars will have a company selling team and game pictures for individuals, but they are unsure of the team picture schedule, package breakdown, and cost. As soon as State Wars gets the information from the company they will forward it on to all of us.

Make sure you check out theSTATS section on our website and begin to utilize our incredible system. Since the first puck dropped in 2005, every single state, game and player has been archived in our system. Make sure you take advantage of this very unique aspect in our sport!

But most importantly here is your  2013 State Wars Schedule.  Yet another reason why State Wars is the FORCE in roller hockey!  Oh by the way, getting this schedule so early doesn't entitle you to complain or ask for game changes.  Please do not contact us asking why your team played this team or why your games are that time, once again there are 293 teams playing over 900 games over a 12 day period...so we do our best to make this event the BEST there is in hockey.  We apologize to any teams who play super early or really late but that's what tournament hockey is all about...all day and night at the rink!

Good luck to all and we look forward to seeing you in Darien Illinois very soon!

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

Cookie Dough Information
As you have heard we have an opportunity to sell Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough to help offset State Wars costs.  Christine Dupre’ (her son is playing with '00, '01 teams) will be spearheading this.  If you are interested in selling please let Christine know ASAP and she will get you a packet.

The bucket sells for $16 and contains roughly 3 dozen preformed cookie dough pieces.  For every container you sell, you earn $6. You charge $16 per container and keep $6.  For example, if you sell 10 tubs you collect $160, pay $100, keep $60.  There are also 4 varieties of pizza to sell this year.

The deadline for this is July 7th.  All orders will be placed to Otis Spunkmeyer that week with an expected delivery the week of July 21st.  A more accurate date and time will be established once the order is placed.  Know that all products come frozen and will need to be picked up by you and delivered on the day of delivery, unless you have room to store them in your own freezer.  Orders cannot be held, as we don't have freezer space.  Again these times will be better established later in July.

When collecting money if someone is paying with a check please have checks made out to you.  You will then write one check for the total sales and will make it out to Christine Dupre’. You can contact her at babyheartsix@yahoo.com.

State Wars 9 Team/State Count

Parents have been asking how may teams are going to State Wars for each age group. I compared the teams for each age group against the tryout list. There are three states/provinces that are not on a team list. Kansas does not have their tryouts until today/tonight (6/14), and Manitoba and Virginia do not have a tryout date listed. I hope this helps!

State Wars 9 Specialty Pre-Order Items For Sale

The following is information from Tim McManus. If anyone is interested in ordering any of the items below please contact your team manager so they can fill out a master order form for each team. As Tim states below, this will ensure little to no mistakes are made during the order process as well as save time once you are at State Wars. For those you who have not attended State Wars before you will appreciate having everything ordered prior to getting there. Also, he states below all orders must be turned in by July 1st so please have your order to your managers by June 28th. Each manager will determine the best payment method and let you know.

Each year there are certain "specialty items" that we offer at State Wars that are very popular. These items all MUST be pre-ordered as we do not carry extras at the event. Please make sure to pass this info on to ALL players on your team, as many if not all will be interested in purchasing. You may mail in a check in advance to pay for these items or pay in cash on site at pickup. Attached is an order form, we need ALL orders no later than July 1st and only orders filled out on attached form will be accepted.

Many times, team managers email in many "versions" of their orders, please try to just send in one FINAL order, as there is always risk of a mistake when we have to make changes. Also, if you mail in your payment, your order will be ready at the team manager's meeting, if you do not pre-pay you will have to wait in line to have it taken care of for you, so if possible please pre-pay to save time.

ITEM #1 : "Helmet Stickers"

Time To Order Pins & Dog Tags

The pin price (cost + delivery) is determined by how many pins/dog tags will be ordered. We are required to pay for the pins/dog tags with a single check. The following is how the pin/dog tag process will work:
  1. Pin/dog tag ordering will be available online by using the link found in this post from now until midnight on June 25 (after this date/time no more orders can be made; a limited number of pins may be purchased from the staff at State Wars at the tournament for a higher cost);
  2. On June 26, everyone will be notified by the method they selected in Question 3 with the cost of their pin/dog tag order and payment methods available (cash, check, PayPal, etc.);
  3. Payments need to be made as soon as possible (cash, check, PayPal, etc.);
  4. Money will be sent on July 12, for the pin order to State Wars to have the pins/dog tags made; and
  5. Managers for each team will distribute pins/dog tags at the State Wars tournament

State Wars 8 Nebraska Pin

State Wars Pin Costs

For a reference I wanted to add the Nebraska State Wars Pin information for State Wars 8.  The following was an email posted on the Team Locker Room pages.

Hi,

Before I commit to a design (haven't heard anything back yet) with Jane I need a head count as to who is interested in purchasing the pins. Attached is pricing for the pins. The standard, most popular size is the 1.50" pin and as you can see the more pins you purchase the cheaper they are.

If everyone could let me know as soon as possible whether you are interested in purchasing the pins or not that would be great. The sooner the better as Jane needs to get started on the design.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Michelle
